Spinach Dosa - Palak Dosa

Here's an healthy and tasty Dosa variety prepared with dosa batter and spinach paste. Spinach Dosa (Palak Dosa) is one of the common variety of dosa in southern parts of India. 

Ingredients (For Dosa batter)

Black gram (Urad dal) : 1 1/2 cups
Rice : 3 cups
Salt

For Spinach (Palak) paste

Spinach (Palak) leaves : 2 cups 
Ginger : 1/2 inch piece
Garlic : 6 cloves
Cumin seeds : 1 tea spoon
Oil 
Salt to taste

Method

For Dosa batter

Soak Black gram (Urad dal) and rice for 5 to 6 hours. 
Grind the soaked black gram and rice into smooth batter
Keep it overnight for fermentation. 

For Spinach dosa

Heat oil in a pan, add ginger, garlic cloves and cumin seeds, fry on slow flame for 1 minute
Add washed spinach leaves, salt and fry for 2 more minutes.
Allow the mixture to cool down
Grind the mixture into smooth paste and set aside.
Heat a tawa/pan, apply oil on the surface and spread the dosa batter evenly in round shape.
Let the dosa roast for 2 minutes on low flame
Spread spinach paste evenly on the surface as shown in the picture and roast for 2 more minutes
Healthy and tasty spinach dosa is ready for serve.
Serve hot with coconut chutney.
