Paravannam - Sweet Rice


Here's the procedure for making Paravannam (sweet rice) often prepared on auspicious occassions and festivals to offer to God as Prasadam (Sacred Food) in various parts of India.

Ingredients

Rice : 100 gms
Milk : 500 ml








Jaggery : 150 gms
Cashew nuts
Raisins














Ghee : 100 gms

Method

Wash and soak the rice for 15 minutes
Boil milk in a vessel
When milk starts boiling add soaked rice to it
Cook till rice become soft
Add jaggery to it
Heat ghee in a pan and fry cashewnuts and raisins
Add fried cashew nuts, raisins and leftover ghee to the rice mix well before serve.
