Chepala Pulusu is another famous Andhra non veg delight. It is prepared with either fresh pond or sea fish and tamarind juice. Chepala Pulusu can be prepared with both raw as well as fried fish.
Here's the recipe of fresh pond fish stew. I prefer head and tail pieces for making stew because these parts can not go good with gravy and also the head pieces increases the taste of stew.
Fish : (Head & Tail pieces)
Tamarind juice : 1 cup
Tomato : 2 (Cut into pieces)
Onion : 2 (Chopped)
Green Chillies : 4 (Slitted)
Ginger Garlic paste : 2 tsp
Turmeric Powder : 1 tsp
Red Chilly Powder : 1 tsp
Curry Masala Powder : 1 tsp
Salt as per taste
Wash and marinate the fish with turmeric powder, red chilly powder and salt
Heat oil in a pan and fry the fish pieces.
Heat oil in a karahi add chopped onions, green chillies and curry leaves fry till onion turns into light brown color and add garlic ginger paste.
Add sliced tomato and fry for 3 minutes
Add curry masala powder and salt
Add tamarind juice to it and cook for 5 minutes before adding water
When water starts boiling add fried fish and cover with a lid
Cook till the stew become thick and garnish with coriander leaves
Serve hot with rice
