Pesara Punugulu - Green Gram Fritters

Moong Dal Fritters (Pesara Punugulu) is a very tasty and extremely easy to prepare tea time snake recipe. It is very handy while treating surprise guests. Very less preparation time is required to prepare this snack.


Splitted Green gram (Moong Dal) : 1 cup
Onion : 1 (large)
Green Chilly : 2
Ginger : 1 inch piece 
Baking powder : 1/2 tea spoon
Red chilly powder : 1 tea spoon
Salt as per taste
Oil for deep fry


Wash and soak the green gram (moong dal) for half an hour. If time is less 15 minutes is enough.
Grind the soaked moong dal, onion, green chilly and ginger into smooth thick paste
Add red chilly powder, baking powder and salt as per taste, mix well.
Heat oil in a karahi/wok
Make round shapes or any other desired shape with the ground paste and deep fry in oil on low flame till they turn into golden yellow in color.
Serve hot with Imli Ki Chutney or Sauce.
