Idli podi is a dry chutney powder makes a very good combination with Idli or Dosa. When running out of time it can be very handy in replacing chutney. It can be prepared instantly and can be stored for weeks in air tight jars.
Pure home made ghee makes a delicious combination with Idli podi. Here are the ingredients and method for preparing Idli podi at home.
Coriander seeds : 50 gms
Red Chillies (Whole) : 20
Garlic cloves : 5
Toor Dal (Kandi pappu) : 1 table spoon
Cumin seeds : 2 tea spoon
Curry leaves : 10
Asafoetida (Hing) : 1 tea spoon
Salt : As per taste
Oil : 3 tea spoons
Heat oil in a pan, slightly roast all the above ingredients.
Grind all the roasted ingredients into coarse powder.
Store in a clean and dry air tight container
Add ghee and serve with Idli or Dosa
