Samosa is a very famous triangular shaped stuffed snack in Asian countries like India and Pakistan. It is generally fried or baked and filled with vegetarian or non vegetarian stuff like potatoes smash, peas or chicken etc.
In the Samosa recipe I'm sharing here I've used Beetroot,carrot, potato, and green peas as filling. Here's the step by step method for preparing Samosa at home.
Ingredients
For Cover
All purpose flour (Maida) : 250 gms
Kala Jeera
(Optional) : 1 tea spoon
Dalda : 2 tea spoon
Salt
Water : little
For filling
Beetroot : 1
Carrot : 1
Potato : 1
Peas : 1/2 cup
Onion : 1 (Chopped)
Green Chillies : 3 (Finely Chopped)
Ginger, garlic paste : 2 tea spoons
Turmeric powder : 1 tea spoon
Salt as per taste
Oil
Method
For stuffing
Boil Beetroot, carrot, potato, green peas and mash them in a bowl
Heat oil in a pan, add chopped onions, green chillies, ginger garlic paste and fry for 3 minutes
Add turmeric powder, salt as per taste and mix well
Add mashed beetroot,carrot,potato,peas mixture, mix well and keep aside
For cover
Take a bowl add all purpose flour, kala jeera, salt and mix well
Heat the dalda and pour over the above the flour and mix well
Add little water at a time and knead the flour into soft dough (like roti dough) and keep aside.
How to make samosa
Make small round balls with the dough
Roll each ball into flat circle shape like roti.
Cut the circle into two parts as shown in the picture
Now take the big circle and fold it like a cone as shown in the picture
Fill it with a spoon full of stuffing prepared above
Cover the open side by gently pressing with fingers
Repeat the procedure with each dough ball
Heat oil in a deep bottomed wok or karahi and fry the samosa on slow flame till both sides turns golden brown.
Mouthwatering snack is ready to serve
Serve hot with Sauce or Chutney
