Idli makes a very good combination with Sambhar and it's one of most famous breakfast recipe of South India. Normally Sambhar is served as a side dish along with Idli.
But instead of serving it as a side dish if we dip idli in Sambhar it makes a great combination.
Ingredients for Idli
Black gram Dal (Urad dal) : 1 cup
Idfli rava (Rice rava) : 3 Cups
Salt : As per taste
Wash and soak Black gram (Urad) dal for 6-7 hours
Wash and soak Idli rava (Rice rava) for 5-6 hours
Grind the soaked urad dal into smooth thick paste
Squeeze the water from Idli rava and add to ground dal paste
Add salt as per taste and also add little water if batter it too hard.
Keep overnight for fermentation.
Mix well before putting the batter into idli container. Steam cook till done.
Serve hot with Sambhar
