Pachi Jeedipappu Royyala koora - Fresh Cashew nuts and Prawns Curry

This delicious non vegetarian delight prepared with unprocessed cashew nuts directly obtained from the fruit (mostly available in rural area markets) and fresh pond prawns.

Fresh Cashew nuts : 1 cup
Prawns : 250 gm
Onion : 2
Tomato : 2
Green Chilly : 2
Ginger : 1 inch piece
Garlic : 6 cloves
Cumin seeds : 1 tea spoon
Turmeric powder : 2 tea spoons
Red chilly powder : 1 tea spoon
Curry Masala Powder : 1 tea spoon
Garam Masala Powder : 2 tea spoons
Salt : As per taste
Oil : 2 table spoons


Deshell and wash the prawns, marinate with 1 table spoon turmeric powder, 1 table spoon red chilly powder and 1 table spoon salt for 15 minutes.
Heat 1 table spoon oil in a pan and fry the marinated prawns for 10 minutes on slow flame and set aside.
Grind onions, green chilly, ginger, garlic cloves, tomato and cumin seeds into smooth paste in a kitchen grinder.
Heat one table spoon oil in a karahi/wok add ground onion paste, fry on slow flame till the raw smell disappears.
Add 1 table spoon turmeric powder, 1 table spoon curry masala powder, 2 table spoons garam masala powder, salt as per taste and fry for 3 minutes.
Add fresh cashew nuts and fry on slow flame for 5 minutes.
Add the fried prawns and mix well
Add water according to the gravy requirement 
Cook till the gravy become thick.
Serve hot with rice or roti.
