Variety Vermicelli Idli

Here's a variety idli recipe prepared with idli batter and vermicelli. This is simple and some thing different from routine idli.

Ingredients

Black gram dal (Urad Dal) : 1 cup
Idli ravva (Coarse rice powder) : 2 cups
Vermicelli  : 200 gm
Ghee (Clarified butter) : 2 tea spoons
Salt : As per taste

Method

Wash and soak black gram dal for 6-7 hours
Soak idli rava in water for 4-5 hours
Grind the soaked black gram dal into thick paste
Drain the water from idli ravva and squeeze it tightly to drain any leftover water, add it to the ground dal and make a thick batter
Heat ghee (clarified butter) in a pan and roast the vermicelli on slow flame till it turn into light brown in color
Add roasted vermicelli to the dal batter 
Add salt as per taste and mix well
Keep the idli batter overnight for fermentation
Next day morning pour the batter into idli trays and steam cook in idli cooker for 10 -15 minutes.
Serve hot with chutney or sambhar
