Sesame Cucumber Chutney

Cucumber Chutney (Dosakaya Pachadi) is a most common chutney recipe from Andhra. It is normally prepared with yellow cucumber.
The specialty of this cucumber chutney is,  there is no need of adding tamarind  in it, because the yellow cucumber itself tastes very sour. Here's an easy cucumber chutney recipe with little twist, in which sesame seeds powder added for extra taste. This chutney is very tangy, tasty and healthy too.

Ingredients

Yellow Cucumber : 1 (medium size)
Sesame seeds : 1/2 cup
Green Chillies : 4
Garlic cloves : 4
Salt to taste
Oil : 2 tea spoons

For seasoning

Black gram (Urad Dal) : 2 tea spoons
Red Chillies : 2
Bengal gram : 2 tea spoons
Mustard seeds : 1 tea spoon
Cumin seeds : 1 tea spoon
Curry leaves
Asafoetida : a pinch
Oil : 2 tea spoons

Method

Peal the skin of the yellow cucumber and wash
Cut the cucumber into  two halves. Remove the seeds along with juice into a bowl and set aside for further use.
Heat oil in a pan, add sesame seeds, green chillies, garlic cloves and roast till sesame seeds turn light brown in color.
Grind roasted sesame seeds, green chillies and garlic cloves into smooth powder.
Add cucumber seeds and juice to the ground sesame powder and grind it into smooth thick paste.
Cut the cucumber into small pieces.
Add cucumber pieces to the ground paste, add salt as per taste and mix well.

For seasoning

Heat oil in a pan, add all the ingredients for seasoning and fry till mustard starts splitting.
Pour the seasoning over above prepared cucumber mixture and mix well.
Healthy and tasty Sesame Cucumber Chutney is ready for serve.
Serve as a side dish with rice or roti.
