Fish Spring Onion Stew

Fresh fish is one of the healthiest food we can eat. They are rich in omega-3 fatty acids which are very essential to maintain a healthy heart.These acids help your blood form excessive clotting, they reduce the amount of bad cholesterol in blood and also reduce the risk of heart attack, strokes and some type of cancers. Here's an healthy fish stew recipe prepared with fresh pond fish and spring onion. Spring onions are packed with great nutritive values and adds taste to any dish. They are very good source of Vitamin C, Vitamin A and Vitamin K. Spring onions carry many health benefits by themselves. Some health benefits of spring onions are they lower the blood sugar levels, improves the blood circulation and also helps digestion. This stew recipe prepared with fish and spring onions is not only tasty, but it also packed with great nutritive values.

Fresh pond fish : 500 gm (Cut into pieces)
Spring onion : 2 bunch
Tomato : 2 (Chopped)
Green Chillies : 2 (Finely chopped)
Ginger garlic paste : 2 tea spoons
Tamarind juice : 1 cup
Turmeric powder : 2 tea spoons
Red chilly powder : 1 tea spoon
Curry masala powder : 2 tea spoons
Salt to taste


Cut the spring onion into small pieces and set aside.
Wash and marinate the fish pieces with one tea spoon turmeric powder, red chilly powder and salt for 15 minutes.
Heat oil in a wok/karahi and fry the marinated fish pieces on low flame till they turn into light golden yellow in color.
Add chopped spring onion to the remaining oil in the wok and fry for 2 minutes on low flame.
Add ginger garlic paste and fry for 2 more minutes.
Add chopped tomato and fry on medium flame for 2 minutes.
Add one tea spoon turmeric powder, curry masala powder and mix well.
Add tamarind juice and bring it to boil.
Add additional water if the stew is too thick.
Add fried fish pieces and cook for 5 minutes on medium flame.
Delicious fish spring onion stew is ready to serve.
Serve hot with rice.
