Bobbatlu is a traditional Andhra sweet recipe which is normally prepared on festivals and special occasions. This is one of the most delicious and must have sweet recipe from Andhra Cuisine. Bobbatlu make a very good combination with Pulihora (Tamarind rice/Imli rice). Here's the easy step by step procedure for making Bobbatlu at home.


Bengal gram dal : 1 cup
Sugar/Jaggery : 1 cup
Grated coconut : 1 cup
All purpose flour : 500 gm
Cardamom powder : 2 tea spoons
Salt : 1 tea spoon
Ghee : 150 gm
Banana leaf : 1 


Pressure cook Bengal gram for 5 minutes
Drain the water from pressure cooked Bengal gram dal
Add sugar/jaggery, cardamom powder to the pressure cooked Bengal gram and mix well.
Stir cook the above mixture on low flame to make thick smooth paste.
Take a bowl add all purpose flour, salt, little ghee mix well and make tight dough by adding little water at a time.
Make small round balls with the dough
Flatten the dough balls into round shapes just like chapati as shown in the picture.
Take a banana leaf apply ghee on it place the flattened dough balls and a table spoon of  Bengal gram dal mixture at the center as shown in the picture.
Close all the ends as shown in the picture.
Apply some ghee on hands and flatten the stuffed dough ball into round flat bread shape as shown in the picture.
Heat a pan/tawa, apply ghee on the surface and roast the flat breads on low flame till they turn light golden color both the sides.
Delicious Bobbatlu ready for serve.
Serve as side dish with Pulihora (tamarind rice)
