Chandra Kantalu

Chandra Kantalu is a famous Andhra sweet recipe which is normally prepared on festivals and special occasions. This tasty sweet is prepared with Split Green gram (Moong Dal) and Sugar. This sweet is very delicious and a must try recipe.

Green gram (Moong dal) : 1 cup 
Sugar : 1 cup
Cardamom powder : 1 tea spoon
Salt : 1/2 tea spoon
Ghee : 1 table spoon
Oil for deep fry


Wash and soak green gram (Moong dal) for 30 minutes.
Grind the soaked green gram into thick hard paste.
Add sugar, cardamom powder and salt to the ground green gram paste, mix well and cook on low flame till the paste become hard by stirring continuously as shown in the picture.
Apply ghee on the surface of a tray and spread the above cooked mixture as shown in the picture and allow it to cool for few minutes.
Cut the paste into desired shapes with the help of a kitchen knife as shown in the picture.
Heat enough oil for deep fry in a deep bottomed karahi.
Take the pieces with the knife as shown in the picture 
Deep fry all the pieces till both sides turn into golden yellow in color.
Delicious Chandra Kantalu ready for serve.
This sweet can be preserved up to 2 to 3 days.
