Ugadi Festival Recipes

Ugadi is one of the main festival of Andhra and it is observed as the first day of the New Year according to Telugu calender. Ugadi is derived from Sanskrit word Yugadi, It's a combination of two words in which Yug means age and Adi means beginning. It's observed as the beginning of new year in Andhra, Karnataka and Maharashtra. People have ritual showers and perform pooja on the occasion. Ugadi is considered the most auspicious day to begin new business or for purchasing new things. People wear new clothes and greet each other and many special dishes like Ugadi Pachadi, Bobbatlu (Puran Poli) etc will be prepared to celebrate the occasion.
