Spicy White Peas Stir Fry - Batani Masala

White peas also known as Navy beans belongs to bean family which are very good for our health.
They are low in cholesterol, calories, fat and sodium. They contain high protein levels and very rich source of iron. Here is a very simple and easy stir fry recipe prepared with this healthy peas. 

Ingredients


White peas ( Batani ) : 1cup
Onions : 2 ( chopped )
Green chillies : 2
Ginger,garlic paste : 2 tea spoons
Mustard seeds : 1 tea spoon
Black gram dal : 1 tea spoon 
Cumin seeds : 1 tea spoon
Red chilly powder : 1 tea spoon
Garam masala powder : 1 tea spoon
Turmeric power : 1/2 tea spoon
Coriander leaves : few
Oil : 1 table spoon
Salt to taste


Method

Soak the white peas in water for  8 hours or over night.
Add pinch of salt to the soaked peas and pressure cook for 5 minutes (2-3 whistles).
Heat oil in a pan add Mustard seeds, cumin seeds, black gram dal, chopped onions and green chilies fry till onions turn into light brown.
Add turmeric powder and boiled peas fry for 2 minutes, now add red chilly powder, ginger garlic paste and salt, fry on low flame for 3 minutes.
Now add garam masala powder and fry on low flame for 5 minutes.
Garnish with coriander leaves.
Serve hot as a side dish.
