Ragi Almond Cashew Gruel

Finger millet/Ragi is one of the most nutritious among all the major cereal crops. It packed with several  health benefits and an ideal food for obese and diabetic people.
It's very rich in Iron and contain easily digestible proteins. This "Ragi Almond Cashew Gruel" recipe is a slight variation to earlier posted "Finger Millet Gruel" from Hema's Kitchen. As a little twist cashew and almond paste was added to make this gruel more nutritious and much tasty.


Ragi Flour/Finger Millet    : 1 Cup
Cashew and Almond paste  : 1/2 Cup.
Ghee/ Clarified butter :  1 Table spoon
Black pepper powder  : 1 Tea spoon
Salt : To taste

Take a bowl add ragi powder, water and prepare a thin batter by stirring continuously and set aside.
Grind almond and cashes into smooth paste and set aside.
Boil water in a bowl, when water starts boiling add batter to it.
Add salt as per taste and stir the mixture continuously to avoid lumps.
Now add ground almonds and cashew paste, mix well and cook till done.
Add ghee/clarified butter and mix well
Sprinkle black pepper powder over the gruel. 
Garnish with almond flakes.
Serve hot with chicken or mutton gravy.
