Peanut Samosa - Pallila Samosa

Samosa is a very famous triangular shaped stuffed snack in Asian countries like India and Pakistan.
It is generally fried or baked and filled with vegetarian or non vegetarian stuff like potatoes smash, peas or chicken etc. Here's another variation "Peanut Samosa" of this delicious snack in which boiled peanuts are used for stuffing. 

Ingredients

For filling

Boiled peanuts : 1 cup
Onions : 2 (chopped)
Green chillies: 4
Red chilly powder : 1 tea spoon
Garam masala powder : 1 tea spoon
Salt to taste.
Oil : 4 tea spoons

For cover

Maida (all purpose flour) : 1 cup
Rice flour : 1/2 cup
Dalda or oil : 1 table spoon
Kala jeera : 1 tea spoon
Salt to taste
Water : little
Oil : for deep fry

Method

For filling

Heat oil in a pan add onions, green chillies fry till it turns light brown.
Add boiled peanuts, red chilly powder, garam masala powder, salt mix well and fry for 2 minutes on low flame and keep aside.

For cover

Take bowl add all purpose flour, rice flour, kala jeera, salt and mix well.
Heat dalda or oil and pour over the above flour and mix well.
Add little water at a time and knead the flour into soft dough (like roti dough) and keep aside.
Make small round balls with the dough.
Roll each ball like roti ans cut into two parts.
Now take the one part fill with spoon full of stuffing.
Cover the open side gently pressing with fingers.
Heat oil in a deep bottomed wok or karahi and fry the samosa  on medium flame till the both sides turns golden brown.
Serve hot with imli ki chutney or sauce.

  2. In Kolkata we get samosas which we call shingara with peanuts and small pieces of coconut...this recipe of yours so remind me of those ones...:-)
