Bobbarlu Masala Vadalu

Bobbarlu (black eyed peas) vadalu, is another snack item from Hema's kitchen. This snack is very tasty and extremely easy to prepare.

Ingredients :

Black Eyed Peas (bobbarlu) : 2 cups (soaked in water 5 to 6 hours)
Onions : 2 (chopped)
Green chillies : 3 (chopped)
Coriander leaves : few
Cumin seeds : 1 tea spoons
Coriander seeds : 1 table spoon
Ginger : 11/2 inch piece
Garam masala : 1 tea spoons
Red chillies : 2
Curry leaves : few
Salt to taste
Oil to for deep frying

Method :

Grind the soaked black eyed peas, ginger piece, coriander seeds, red chillies to a coarse paste by adding little water.
Add the chopped onions, green chillies, coriander leaves, curry leaves, salt, cumin seeds, garam masala powder and mix well.
Heat oil in a deep bottomed pan.
Make flat round shapes with above mixture and deep fry on medium flame, till vadas turn into golden brown colour into both sides.

Serve hot with Imli ki chutney or tomato sauce.

  1. I have never made this snack before but sure the use of black eye peas with the spices is interesting. Curry leaves are just awesome for the fragrance.
