In India, paramannam, a traditional recipe is offered as prasadam (sacred food) to God on festival occasions before performing pooja (prayer).
On the occasion of Krishnastami I prepared paramannam with a little twist by adding paneer pieces to give extra taste and nutrition to the recipe.
Ingredients
Basmati rice : 1 cup
Milk : 4 cups
Jaggery : 1 cup
Paneer pieces : 1cup
Cardamom powder : 1 tea spoon
Ghee : 2 table spoons
Cashew nuts : few
Raisins : few
Pistachios : few
Method
Wash and soak rice for 15 minutes.
Boil milk in a vessel.
When milk starts boiling, add soaked rice to it and cook till rice become soft.
Add jaggery , cardamom powder to it and mix well.
Now add paneer pieces into the above mixture and cook for 5 minutes on low flame
Heat ghee in a pan add cashew nuts and raisins, fry till turns light brown.
Pour them in the above mixture and mix well.
Garnish with pistachios.
Delicious "Paneer paramannam" is ready to serve.
