Red Kidney Bean Biryani - Rajma Biryani

Rajma (Red kidney beans) is high protein bean variety. A recipe called rajma chawal is very famous in northern india.To make the recipe spicy, I tried rajma biryani by adding spices which is tasty and it is an  "Easy to cook" recipe.

Ingredients :

Basmati rice : 2 cups
Red kidney beans (Rajma) : 1 cup
Onions : 2 (chopped)
Cloves : 5
Cinnamon : 1 inch piece
Cardamom : 3
Green chillies : 3
Red chilly powder : 1/2 tea spoon
Mint leaves : few
Yogurt : 1 cup
Garam masala powder : 1tea spoons
Ginger, garlic paste : 2 tea spoons
Bay leaves : 2
Ghee : 1 table spoon
Salt to taste

Method :

Soak rajma (Red kidney beans ) over night.
Wash basmati rice and keep aside.
Heat ghee in pressure cooker, add cinnamon, cardamom,bay leaves, cloves, fry for 1 minute and then add onions, green chillies,fry till onions turns light brown.
Add soaked red kidney beans and fry for 2 minutes.
Now add ginger, garlic paste, garam masala powder and red chilly powder fry for 1 minute.
Add yogurt and salt as per taste, mix well.
Then add basmati rice and mix well.
Add 4 cups water and mint leaves in the above mixture.
When water comes to boil, close the cooker and cook the rice on low flame till done.

Serve hot with Raita or Kurma.
