Chickpeas
(Garbanzo beans) are rich in protein and fiber, chickpeas in your daily
diet can help lower LDL(bad) cholesterol levels, which reduce the risk
of heart disease.
It is also a very good source of Copper, Folate and Manganese. Here
is a protein packed non vegetarian recipe " Chicken Chickpea Masala
Curry" prepared with chicken and chickpeas and various spices from
Hema's Kitchen. Ingredients
Chicken : 500 gm (cut into medium size pieces)
Chickpeas : 1 cup ( soaked)
Onions : 3 (finely chopped)
Green chillies : 3 (sliced)
Ginger and Garlic paste : 2 tea spoons
Turmeric powder : 1 tea spoon
Garam masal powder : 2 tea spoons
Red chilli powder : 1 tea spoon
Curry masala powder : 1 tea spoon
Tomato : 1 (cut into small pieces)
Salt to taste
Oil : 1 table spoon
Method
Wash and marinate the chicken with turmeric powder, salt and red chilli powder and keep for 1/2 hour.
Soak the chick peas 5 to 6 hours.
Heat oil in a pan add chopped onions, green chillies, till it turns light brown.
Add marinated chicken and fry for 5 minutes on medium flame.
Now add soaked chick peas, ginger and garlic paste, fry for 5 minutes on low flame.
Add curry masala , garam masala , salt , tomato pieces and mix well, fry for few minutes on low flame.
Add enough of water and cover with a lid.
Cook on medium flame till done.
Serve hot with Rice or Roti.
Chickpea masala curry looks spicy and yummy.
