Chicken Chickpea Masala Curry

Chickpeas (Garbanzo beans) are rich in protein and fiber, chickpeas in your daily diet can help lower LDL(bad) cholesterol levels, which reduce the risk of heart disease.
It is also a very good source of Copper, Folate and Manganese. Here is a protein packed non vegetarian recipe " Chicken Chickpea Masala Curry" prepared with chicken and chickpeas and various spices from Hema's Kitchen. 

Chicken : 500 gm (cut into medium size pieces)
Chickpeas : 1 cup ( soaked)
Onions : 3 (finely chopped)
Green chillies : 3 (sliced)
Ginger and Garlic paste : 2 tea spoons
Turmeric powder : 1 tea spoon
Garam masal powder : 2 tea spoons
Red chilli powder : 1 tea spoon
Curry masala powder : 1 tea spoon
Tomato : 1 (cut into small pieces)
Salt to taste
Oil : 1 table spoon


Wash and marinate the chicken with turmeric powder, salt and red chilli powder and keep for 1/2 hour.
Soak the chick peas 5 to 6 hours.
Heat oil in a pan add chopped onions, green chillies, till it turns light brown.
Add marinated chicken and fry for 5 minutes on medium flame.
Now add soaked chick peas, ginger and garlic paste, fry for 5 minutes on low flame.
Add curry masala , garam masala , salt , tomato pieces and  mix well, fry for few minutes on low flame.
Add enough of water and cover with a lid.
Cook on medium flame till done.
Serve hot with Rice or Roti.
